I have over 25 years’ experience in the outsourcing industry (Andersen Consulting, BT, Serco, Capita, JLL). This includes a number of senior roles in strategy, business development, organisational design & change and IT transformation as well as managing director roles for large outsource contracts/business divisions. During this time I have worked in a range of sectors including government, energy and utilities, retail, telco and commercial real estate.
Following a climate “epiphany” in February 2019, I made significant changes in my personal and professional life which ultimately led to me quitting my role as UK Head of property management and board member for JLL.
I have chosen to dedicate my time to helping businesses accelerate their plans to address the climate, ecological and social crisis. This includes as a Director of Business Declares, and co-founder of Business Leaders for Peace. I am also involved in local community movements helping build resilience as well as participating in international movements for social justice.
What I enjoy most about my work
It never ceases to amaze me how many fantastic people there are who work so hard and act with such humility and selflessness to role model compassion, collaboration and courage in the work they do. Working with such people like these is certainly the highlight of the work I do.
My hope for the future
I believe that businesses are in a position of power and therefore have a responsibility that comes with this to influence and act well beyond the traditional business metrics.
My hope is that businesses will step up and engage much more courageously with issues such as humanitarian crises, climate breakdown and social justice.
This includes speaking out about injustices as well as creating the culture within their organisations where employees can discuss these things in psychological safety.
What I love about AG Impact
There are two stand out things for me;
- The vision and values of AG – the business is focusing on doing so much more than traditional “business as usual” metrics.
- The authenticity of the leadership team and how they strive to “walk the walk” and not simply pay lip service to the “business buzz words” which is the case in so many organisations.
How does working with AG Impact support you
Working with the leadership team means that I am constantly learning, challenging and shaping my own viewpoints and ideas whilst at the same time being inspired by the people and the work they do at AG.
