We’re so proud to celebrate a significant milestone for our Founder and CEO, Lynne Ashcroft Griffiths, who has been admitted as the 111th Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Communicators.

This remarkable achievement reflects a career spent helping organisations communicate with purpose and create measurable impact alongside a belief that communication has the power to drive positive change for people, businesses and society.

A proud moment in a distinguished communications tradition

The Worshipful Company of Communicators brings together senior professionals from communications, public relations, media, marketing, public affairs and stakeholder engagement. As one of the City of London’s modern Livery Companies, it promotes professional excellence, ethics, education and service.

Being admitted as the 111th Liveryman follows Lynne being awarded the Freedom of the City of London, one of the capital’s most historic civic honours. Rooted in centuries of tradition, the Freedom reflects the values of service, community and professional responsibility that remain as relevant today as ever.

As part of this heritage, Lynne will participate in the annual Sheep Drive across Southwark Bridge in September, honouring the City’s commercial history while raising funds for charitable causes and celebrating the enduring connection between business, community and public service.

What Does It Mean to Be a City of London Liveryman?

Livery Companies began as medieval trade guilds, established to maintain professional standards, support education and promote excellence within their industries. Today, they continue to play an important role in professional development, charitable giving, mentoring and civic leadership.

A Liveryman is a recognised member of a Livery Company who has demonstrated commitment to their profession and to the values of leadership, integrity and service. Liverymen help shape the future of their industries, support charitable initiatives, mentor future generations and contribute to the wider life of the City of London.

The Worshipful Company of Communicators carries these traditions into the modern world, providing a professional home for leaders across communications, public relations, marketing, media and stakeholder engagement.

What can modern communicators  learn from the Livery tradition?

While the Livery movement is steeped in history, its values are remarkably relevant today.  In an era of misinformation, growing stakeholder scrutiny and increasing demands for transparency, we believe communicators have a critical role to play.

The strongest communications leaders help organisations:

  • Communicate with integrity
  • Build trust-based relationships
  • Champion accountability
  • Support sustainable business practices
  • Lead difficult conversations
  • Create positive societal impact

Looking Ahead

Lynne’s admission as the 111th Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Communicators marks an important milestone in a career dedicated to communications leadership, sustainability and purpose-led business transformation.

As a Liveryman, she joins a centuries-old tradition of professionals committed to advancing their craft, serving their communities and helping shape the future of their profession. It complements the work she already undertakes through AG Impact in helping organisations build trust, strengthen ESG performance and communicate their impact with authenticity.

At a time when organisations worldwide face increasing expectations around sustainability, stakeholder engagement, corporate reputation and transparency, the need for values-led communications leadership has never been greater.
