EcoVadis certification

To receive an EcoVadis rating, an organisation must register with EcoVadis and complete a detailed sustainability assessment. The assessment evaluates policies, actions and results across a range of environmental, social, ethical and procurement topics.

Businesses are required to submit supporting evidence, such as policies, reports, certifications and performance data, which are reviewed by EcoVadis analysts. Once the assessment is complete, the organisation receives a scorecard outlining its overall performance, category scores and recommendations for improvement.

EcoVadis assesses organisations across four key sustainability themes.

Labour & Human Rights focuses on how organisations support their employees and uphold human rights throughout their operations and value chains. This includes areas such as working conditions, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, and employee development.

Ethics evaluates business integrity and responsible conduct, covering topics such as anti-corruption measures, data protection, transparency and ethical decision-making.

Sustainable Procurement looks at how organisations engage suppliers and integrate sustainability considerations into purchasing decisions and supply chain management.

Together, these four areas provide a comprehensive view of an organisation’s sustainability performance and its ability to create positive impact across its operations and wider value chain.

An EcoVadis rating is valid for 12 months from the date it is issued. Many organisations choose to renew their assessment annually to track progress, demonstrate continuous improvement and meet customer or supply chain requirements. Regular reassessment also provides an opportunity to showcase new initiatives, updated policies and improvements made since the previous evaluation.
